The home farm was established in 1968 by Terry and
Dianne. They began milking Holstein cows and raising
Birkshire hogs. Terry and Dianne along with Kevin and
Kurt showed Birkshire hogs at the state and national
levels receiving a variety of awards for some of the top
Birkshires in the nation. In the 1970s the family
started to raise Angus. In the late 70s Terry and Dianne
started a club pig sale and started to sell boars
internationally. Terry and Dianne began to become more
interested in the beef cattle and developed a great
passion for helping the youth. They started to sell some
of the club calves to the local 4-H and FFA members.
In 1990 Terry and Dianne started a new endeavor, Kegley Show
Supplies. The show supplies business started out in
their front porch and now consumes many buildings on the
farm including a trailer that travels all over the
state. Kegley Show Supplies is not just a business to
Terry and Dianne but an adventure that has allowed them
to make many treasured friends out on the show circuit.
Kegley Farms purchased their first Hereford heifer in
2000. This was also the year that the family started the
first annual club calf sale held in October.
The Hereford herd at Kegley Farms continues to grow. We
currently have 28 Hereford cows. Kegley Farms hopes to
have a herd of at least 55 Herefords by 2012 with the
use of embryo transplant work. Kegley Farms Herefords
are bred and raised to continue to improve the quality
and thickness of each animal. We strive to produce
quality show cattle to continue to do well at the local
and national levels. We have done well in the show ring
with purchased and home raised show cattle. We had
Supreme Champion Heifer at the Wisconsin State Fair in
2006. This heifer went on to win reserve division at the
National Western Livestock Show in 2007. One major
accomplishment for Kegley Farms was when our home raised
heifer won Supreme Champion Heifer at the Wisconsin
State Fair in 2007. We continue to strive toward our
many other goals of winning at the other national shows.
Kegley Farms is excited to announce that they will be
hosting a reproduction sale, the Badger Southern Select
Sale, in the fall of 2012. |
